Leo will learn to knit at grandma's, Pisces will name the price and go quiet

Aries

Today Aries will be the first to apologise to a friend for last week's joke, the one nobody laughed at. No explaining what they meant. They'll just write "I went too far" and wait. The friend will reply with a photo from their holiday ten years ago - which, between the two of them, means there are no hard feelings.

Taurus

Taurus shouldn't rush at the supermarket checkout today. With a full basket, let the old man holding just bread and milk go first. He'll thank you as if you'd given him a gift. And you have - five minutes, on a Saturday morning, when Taurus has nowhere to rush to anyway.

Gemini

Today Gemini will pull the guitar out from behind the wardrobe, the one that's been missing two strings since student days. They'll buy the strings, tune it along to a video and play the three chords they've known since back then. The neighbours won't complain. Not today, at least.

Cancer

Tonight, before bed, Cancer will turn the clocks back an hour - on the cooker, in the car and on the living-room wall clock, which until now waited every year until March to show the right time again. Tomorrow they'll get a Sunday that's an hour longer. They'll use it to finish the book they started in August.

Leo

Today Leo will sit down next to grandma and ask her to teach them to knit. The first row will come out crooked, the second even more so. Grandma will unravel both rows and say "from the top." By evening Leo will have ten centimetres of scarf and a new respect for every jumper they've ever worn.

Virgo

Virgo won't set an alarm today. They'll wake up when they wake up - at twenty past nine, with sunshine on the pillow. For the first twenty minutes they won't know what to do with themselves. Then they'll make coffee in a džezva and drink it on the balcony, without opening their email.

Libra

Today Libra will tell a friend that the dress she bought for the wedding doesn't suit her. Politely, but without "maybe" and without "if you like." The friend will sulk for ten minutes, then take the dress back to the shop. At the wedding she'll thank Libra in front of everyone.

Scorpio

Scorpio, who has claimed for years that they can't stand cats, will today leave lunch leftovers for the tomcat that sleeps on the bonnet of their car. First they'll check nobody's watching. Nobody will be - except the tomcat, who'll be waiting outside the front door tomorrow morning.

Sagittarius

Today Sagittarius will plant five tulip bulbs in a pot on the balcony. They won't see the flowers until April - if they come up at all. For someone who can't even wait for the lift, this is the longest contract they've signed all year.

Capricorn

At a cousin's christening today, Capricorn will hear the question "And when's it your turn?" at least three times. They won't answer once. They'll smile and praise their aunt's pie. The aunt will forget what she asked and put another slice on their plate.

Aquarius

Today Aquarius will dig out their mother's old record, sleeve all scratched, and listen to it from the first song to the last without skipping one. The phone will stay face down. When was the last time they listened to something all the way through without reaching for the next one?

Pisces

Today Pisces will name the price for their work - and won't lower it before the other side speaks. They'll say it and go quiet. The silence will last five seconds, the longest five seconds of this autumn. Then the client will say "deal."
