Around 2:20 after midnight, in the Skopje neighborhood of Butel, two vehicles burned - a "Passat" registered in Skopje and a "Mercedes" with Veles plates. One of them, the "Passat," belongs to the well-known Skopje lawyer Asmir Alispahić. The fire was reported to the police, who are searching for the perpetrator.
The owners, according to the police, have no information on who might be behind the arson. The investigation is underway, and the cause is still being determined. But when a lawyer's car burns in the middle of the night, few believe in coincidence - fires like these are rarely spontaneous.
Torching cars in Skopje is no longer a rarity that causes shock. It has become almost routine news, so frequent that it starts to feel normal - and that's exactly the problem. Behind every burned vehicle stands either a settling of scores, or intimidation, or a message. And in none of those cases is there room for peace in a neighborhood.
The question isn't just who torched the lawyer's car, but why cases like these so often end without an epilogue. Because when arson goes unpunished, it doesn't stop - it multiplies. And the residents of Butel, like everyone else, have the right to sleep without the fear that the morning will greet them with smoke instead of silence.
