Mourinho Came to Munich for Olise, Hoeness Sent a One-Liner

José Mourinho, the new Real Madrid coach, watched the DFB-Pokal final in Germany between Bayern and Stuttgart - and everyone knows why. He didn't come as a tourist. He came to watch Michael Olise.

Real Madrid is desperately looking for a world-class right winger. Olise, Bayern's French playmaker, is at the top of their list. Two seasons in Munich have produced 96 goal contributions in 107 appearances - a number that in the row of Europe's elite wingers sounds almost unreal.

But Bayern doesn't want to hear it. Honorary president Uli Hoeness stepped out with a clear and less than diplomatic message: "He can roll his eyes five times at Olise, he's not getting him. He stays not for sale. I hope I don't run into him (Mourinho), because he could save himself the trip from Madrid."

Classic Hoeness. The German has never been a man who speaks in indirect constructions, and Bayern wears his opinion like a second crest. The question is whether Real will back off, or if this is the start of a saga that will drag on all summer - the way Mbappé dragged on, the way Beinar dragged on.

In the meantime, Mourinho has an in-house solution - Endrick. The Brazilian isn't a traditional winger, but he's a forward who naturally drifts into the right half. Goal-scoring, explosiveness, the ability to build through dribbles - everything Real is looking for on that wing, he already has in the squad. The question is whether Mourinho will pass on the big transfer and open up the solution from inside.
