Rambo Amadeus comes to the Croatian National Theatre in Zadar on October 30 with his sextet. Doors at 7pm, the concert starts at 8, and picking a theatre stage over a club is no accident for a performer who calls himself a media manipulator.

Antonije Pušić was born in Kotor in 1963. Before the music he was a competitive sailor: between 1972 and 1984 he represented Yugoslavia at numerous international regattas. He started singing and composing in his first year of secondary school, which led him to local bands in Herceg Novi and Titograd. His first studio album, "O tugo jesenja", came out in 1988, followed a year later by "Hoćemo gusle".

The stage name splices John Rambo with Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, which on its own tells you what awaits anyone who takes a seat in the hall. His songs pair satirical lyrics about human nature and the stupidity of local politics with a mix of jazz, rock, hip-hop and, more recently, drum and bass. In 2012 he represented Montenegro at Eurovision in Baku with "Euro Neuro", one of the rare appearances on that stage where the contest was treated as material for commentary rather than as the goal.

The sextet means the Zadar night will sit closer to an arranged concert than a solo set, which is the more interesting setting for his material. Tickets are available via entrio.hr.
