British drummer Tom Skinner plays Zagreb's Vintage Industrial Bar on November 19. Doors open at 8pm, the concert starts at 9:15pm, and tickets cost 25 or 28 euros.

Skinner was born in 1980 and is one of the most in-demand drummers working today, with a career that moves through three entirely different worlds. He is one third of The Smile, the trio with Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood of Radiohead. Before that he co-founded the jazz group Sons of Kemet, where he was one of two drummers and where the fight against Britain's colonial legacy turned into a brass party.

In 2022 he released "Voices of Bishara", his first album under his own name, on the Brownswood, Nonesuch and International Anthem labels. It was recorded in a single day, with all five musicians playing simultaneously in the same room: alongside Skinner there were saxophonists Shabaka Hutchings and Nubya Garcia, bassist Tom Herbert and cellist Kareem Dayes. Earlier solo material came out under the name Hello Skinny.

A club stage like Vintage Industrial means the audience hears a drummer of this calibre without the mix in the way - and for a jazz line-up with two saxophone lines, that is a more interesting test than any festival stage. Tickets are available through entrio.hr, and also on sale at Zagreb's Dirty Old Shop and Grif bar.
