Vlatko Stefanovski plays Sava Centar in Belgrade on December 21, with the programme Stefanovski and Friends, an acoustic evening. Tickets are 3,400 dinars through tickets.rs, and the start is at 8 pm.

This is the Macedonian guitarist's second date in Serbia this year, after the July show at the amphitheatre of Eketa Estate near Krnjevo. The difference is in the format. The summer evening was a trio outdoors; the December one is an acoustic set-up with guests in Belgrade's largest concert hall.

Stefanovski was born in Prilep in 1957, into a theatre family, and started playing guitar at thirteen. Still a teenager, he founded Leb i sol, a group that recorded fourteen albums and mixed Macedonian irregular rhythms with rock and jazz fusion. That fusion later got a name, ethno-rock, and more followers than he himself ever admits.

He opened his solo career with Cowboys and Indians in 1994, and since then has also written music for film, theatre and ballet. He has worked with guitarists of Tommy Emmanuel's calibre and with Gibonni, and holds an honorary doctorate in the arts from a Macedonian university. The acoustic format suits him more naturally than it might seem, because his technique is heard best when nothing is covering it.
