But in stoppage time substitute Ruben van Bommel stripped the ball from Serge Gnabry, and Klopp's former Liverpool player Cody Gakpo rattled the net with a volley for a final 1-1. The Dutch were the better side for most of the game, and Virgil van Dijk had a header ruled out in the first half. Xavi's team play Serbia in the Nations League on Sunday - and go into it with the kind of confidence the Germans don't have after this evening.

Macedonia v Switzerland: Bardhi wants a full arena, Nikolov is out

Tomorrow at 20:45, at the Tose Proeski National Arena, Macedonia open their new Nations League campaign against Switzerland - quarter-finalists at the last World Cup. Captain Enis Bardhi and Atalanta's new signing Eljif Elmas faced the press together, and the message was shared: "When we play in Skopje, no opponent feels comfortable." Bardhi openly called for full stands, while Elmas admitted they face a tough game against a powerful team. The problem is that Goce Sedloski will have to make do without Boban Nikolov, who got injured in training, while Darko Churlinov didn't travel at all. Ronaldo stuck on 146 goals, Felix settles the win over Wales

Instead, he announced he's carrying on, aiming for 1,000 career goals. On Thursday against Wales that number didn't budge: he missed a volley from six metres, and the goal he scored before the hour mark was ruled out for offside after a VAR check. The 1-0 win came courtesy of his Al Nassr teammate Joao Felix, with a shot from around twenty metres that deflected off Ben Davies. Ronaldo was substituted in the 67th minute, and on Sunday Portugal visit Norway in Oslo. How much longer will Portugal's patience with its 41-year-old captain last?

United on five points after five rounds - and in contact with Conte

In Manchester, patience runs out faster than an international break. Michael Carrick took United to third place last season and was given a permanent contract this summer, but the first five rounds have brought just five points: one win, two draws and two defeats. According to Italy's Calciomercato, the club has already made contact with Antonio Conte, who has been without a club since leaving Napoli. Officially, nobody is talking about sacking Carrick. Conte brings 11 major trophies, including five Serie A titles and a Premier League title with Chelsea - but also a reputation as a coach who ends up fighting with his own board, as at Tottenham. Are United looking for a coach or for a new drama?

FK Skopje: eight rounds, three points and a coach's resignation

The First League returnees are paying dearly for their return to the top flight. Muarem Muarem resigned as FK Skopje coach after the defeat to Bregalnica, and the numbers left him no room for anything else: eight games, three draws, five defeats, only three goals scored and 12 conceded. The club from Avtokomanda are bottom, in tenth place, with three points. Muarem thanked the board on social media, and the most serious name mentioned as a replacement is the experienced Ljupcho Markovski-Kalc, who is currently out of work.
