Soft, naturally wavy-looking hair is this summer's trend - but the secret is no longer in the curling iron, it's in letting your hair shape itself while you sleep. Stylists say the goal is movement and naturalness, instead of stiff, manufactured curls that scream „I spent an hour in front of the mirror".
The technique is simple and free. You work with the hair while it's slightly damp, so it shapes as it dries. Then you wrap it around a band or long socks before bed - that's exactly how you get the soft waves. It's important to avoid too much tension, so the movement stays; hair wrapped too tightly gives rigid curls instead of gentle waves.
There are alternatives too: a bun or braids, though braids give finer, tighter waves. In the morning, once the hair is dry, you separate the strands easily with your fingers - not a brush - and add just a few drops of light oil to the ends. Brushing destroys the waves; fingers preserve them.
One more detail that makes a difference: silk pillowcases and silk accessories. They create less friction than cotton, so the wave lasts longer and the hair frizzes less. And why heatless at all? Because curling and straightening devices gradually change the structure of the strand, bringing dryness and split ends. This trick costs zero, and in the long run it gives the hair back more than the priciest post-damage treatment.
