Dakota Johnson is selling the house she bought thanks to the film "Fifty Shades of Grey" - and for 5 million euros. The actress, who is 36, is parting with her distinctive mid-century modernist home in West Hollywood, known as "the wooden house," which she bought in January 2016 after earning from the franchise that made her world-famous.
The house was built in 1947 to a design by architect Carl Maston, spans nearly 300 square metres over two floors, with three bedrooms, three bathrooms, a dressing room and an office with a library. The aesthetic is California modernism - rich dark wood, exposed brick, polished concrete, glass facades and ceiling beams that connect the interior with the nature outside.
The living room holds a Wurlitzer spinet piano, cauldron-coloured velvet sofas and ethnic rugs. The dining room has a custom glass table and a sculptural chandelier with frosted glass tulip-shaped shades. But the real star is the kitchen - with sage-coloured cabinets, a professional steel gas range, a vintage radio and wooden utensils that give it a soul.

The bedroom carries an ochre-coloured velvet structure and a hanging woven chair; the dressing room has bespoke joinery, a large skylight and a white leather stool. The bathroom, meanwhile, surprises with powdery pink walls, two symmetrical sinks and a freestanding tub turned toward the glass doors that lead onto the porch. Outside - a pool, a jacuzzi, a circular brick fire pit with volcanic stones and several seating zones.
The whole philosophy of the house, as it's described, is "relaxed design, where real luxury means feeling comfortable." And here lies an irony worth a Metla footnote: a house bought with money from a film about control and bondage, turned into a temple of relaxation. Dakota is now turning a new page - she recently confirmed a relationship with the musician Role Model - while "the wooden house" is left waiting for a new owner ready to pay five million for someone else's sense of home.
