On July 17, Bitola turns for one night into the capital of the regional electronic scene. At the Handball Court, Deep Dish perform - the Grammy-winning house duo that shaped house music at the turn of the millennium - organised by Music Rituals and in partnership with IQOS. For a city that more often gets Balkan folk names than world-class DJs, this is an event of a different order.
Behind the name Deep Dish stand Ali Shirazinia, known as Dubfire, and Sharam Tayebi - two Iranian-Americans from Washington who won a Grammy in 2001 for best remix, with their rework of Dido's „Thank You". The 2005 album „George Is On" and the single „Flashdance" established them as some of the most sought-after producers of their generation, and their sets in London, Ibiza and Miami became a reference point for how progressive house sounds at the top level. The duo split in 2006 to build solo careers, but their reunion from 2014 continues today, with the return of the legendary Global Underground series.
The Bitola concert is not just a DJ appearance. Music Rituals bills it as a night uniting world-famous artists, regional names and an audience that comes specifically for the electronic sound - a format Bitola rarely sees in the open air. The Handball Court, with a capacity of several thousand, gives room for the kind of production Deep Dish sets demand: long, building, with the accent on atmosphere rather than on pure hits.
Tickets range from 1,000 to 1,200 dinars and are available through karti.com.mk and mktickets.mk. The show starts in the evening, and for fans of house and techno who usually travel to Belgrade or Sofia for names like this, this time the stage is in Bitola.
