A Diplomatic Note With the PM's Family Details Ended Up Online

VMRO-DPMNE has attacked the opposition over its silence on a diplomatic note that, they claim, endangered the security of PM Mickoski's family. According to the ruling party, Filipče chose silence instead of a clear condemnation and a demand for accountability.

What did the note contain? According to the accusations, when it surfaced online it exposed details of official vehicles, passenger names, the family's location, and information on secure communications. The note, sent from the Macedonian embassy in Sofia in January, appeared publicly in June - with sensitive details about the stay of the PM's wife and underage son at a winter resort.

VMRO-DPMNE sharply criticised Filipče for talking daily about European values and good neighbourliness, yet saying not a word about this breach. For its part, Sofia denies it published the note, while Skopje demands an explanation and accountability.

Behind the party clash lies a question that outweighs both sides: how does a sensitive diplomatic document with the security details of a family end up on Facebook at all? Who let it slip, and why? When politicians squabble over who stayed silent and who shouted, it's easy to forget that the real scandal is the leak itself - not the reaction to it.
