Dobridol, Debar With No Water on the Third Floor, Anton Popov Facing the Digger and Five Fires Near Raec

Shots fired at a Dobridol wedding, and the case only moved after the video

First came the footage, then the police. In Dobridol near Gostivar, searches at several locations led to six people being detained and one called in for questioning. The seizure is specific: a pistol, a hunting rifle, three gas pistols and 27 spent casings found in a single yard. Those detained are aged 21 to 46, among them a father and son from the same village. The most uncomfortable detail is not the number of guns, it is the order of events - bullets were flying, and the system woke up only once the celebration became publicly available to watch. How many such weddings passed without a camera is a question no statement answers.

Debar has springs for 40,000 people and no water on the third floor

The water system serving Debar draws on springs considered among the best in Europe, and the main reservoir supplies over 40,000 residents. The town has around 10,000 permanent inhabitants. And still, since 1 July there have been four-hour and then five-hour cuts, with no water for hours on the upper floors. Capacity for 40,000, roughly 15,000 users at peak - that is not a shortage of water, it is a shortage of system. At Popova Shapka the same logic goes one step further: the water is not drinkable because it is not chlorinated at all, at the height of the season. Chlorination is not an emergency intervention - it is a routine procedure written into an annual plan.

800 residents, five days to the digger, not one document

Around 800 residents and some twenty companies from the „Anton Popov 1” complex are demanding an urgent meeting with the City of Skopje ahead of the excavation for the underground road, announced for 5 August. What they are asking for is not a halt to the project: they want a geomechanical survey, an official record of the buildings' condition before work starts, and a clear answer on who takes responsibility if damage appears. That is standard construction procedure, not an activist demand. At the 20 July meeting, officials were surprised when they saw the actual situation on the ground - which by itself says how well planned the project is. A new meeting and the project documentation were promised; neither arrived.

Five fires in one night, and the firebreaks are a topic for September

Not one fire spreading, but five separate fronts in the same night in the fields of the village of Raec near Kavadarci. The mayor did not wait for a morning statement - he went on social media and appealed for anyone spotting a new outbreak to report it immediately, which means the services know the front is not closed. In Skopje, a grill set a restaurant alight in „Leptokarija” and the fire took everything in five minutes. All of it just before the heatwave that from 5 August brings over 40 degrees and nights when the mercury will not drop below 20. The advice is to stay indoors between 11 and 17 - advice a construction worker cannot follow.

The border, the promenade and the reminder from 1963

At „Bogorodica” the queues stretch for hours, and on the Greek side an argument over queue-jumping nearly ended in a fight. The official advice is that drivers inform themselves and carry water - advice that shifts the entire burden onto the traveller, while nobody publishes how many booths are open during the evening peak. In Ohrid the cleaners work the promenade at six in the morning while the party is still going: if the bin is full at midnight, the bottle ends up beside it, and the emptying schedule is written by the municipality. A hundred trees fell in one night in the City Park and the clean-up was fast, but there is no assessment of the trees left standing - and that is done before the storm, not after. And an earthquake of 2.5 at 21:54, with no damage at all, in a city built on a reminder from 1963.

The rivers that ran dry beneath the systems built on them

The same story reads the same beyond this country, only with bigger numbers. The Danube fell to minus 133 centimetres and one more centimetre down means „Paks” stops completely for the first time in 44 years - not through a fault or sanctions, but because the river is gone. Iron Gates is running at 20 percent and Serbia is asking citizens to save electricity for ten days, with the lowest inflows since 2003. The systems were built for a climate that no longer exists. In the US, the largest power grid has decided in advance who will sit in the dark: the operator covering 67 million customers admitted it does not have power for everyone once data centres consume four times more by 2035.

An economy on thin legs and a pension at 74

Ireland is growing 3.9 percent, while Germany, France and Italy manage 0.2 each. Belgium and Austria - zero. Second-quarter growth was carried by exports, consumption slowed, investment fell. That is growth on thin legs, and Europe's engines are idling. In parallel, Denmark is heading for a pension age of 74 and 21 European states have already raised the threshold; by the late 2060s the average EU pension age reaches 66.9 for men. The maths does not need an ideology to be understood.

The war aimed at the economy and the network recruiting children

Ukraine sent 635 drones in a single night, but not at the front - at a depot eight hundred kilometres behind it, a refinery and a military base. When an army cannot move a line, it attacks the economy behind it. At the same time Europol is tracking a network recruiting teenagers for killings through encrypted apps, with pseudonyms and maps of buried weapons. The young perpetrators are almost never paid, and that is part of the plan.

The lighter part of the day

Skopje was awarded hosting rights for the European handball championship, and Pelister drew a group with Gummersbach - in the same week the juniors finished their group in Belgrade without a win. In foreign leagues Mladenovski and Trenchovski decided matches, while Arsenal pays 80 million for Guimaraes. And 467 million dollars earned without a single concert in the US and without a single album in English demolished the rule that music in a small language has a ceiling.

What the harder part of the day has in common is not the drought, nor the digger, nor the wedding video. It is the gap between what exists on paper - a survey, an annual chlorination plan, a reservoir for 40,000 people, firebreaks - and what reaches the person on the third floor. Everywhere something fell apart today, the document existed. It just was not opened in time.
