Muriqi Sank Liverpool, Haaland Punished Leipzig Again, and Tikvesh Were Knocked Out of the Cup at the Green Table

Fenerbahçe toppled Liverpool, and Kosovo's Muriqi scored the turnaround goal

Liverpool suffered their first Champions League defeat of the season, and in a way that will be remembered. Fenerbahçe won 3-2 in Istanbul, the club's first win in the competition since 2008. The visitors led twice: young Trey Nyoni became the youngest player in the club's history to score his first goal in a European match, and after Mason Greenwood's equaliser, Alexander Isak headed them back in front in the 69th minute. Then the defence gave way. Archie Brown equalised, and from his cross Vedat Muriqi scored his first Champions League goal. Liverpool had never before led so late in a major European match and still lost - a record nobody wants, although with nine points the team is still well on course for the next stage.

Leipzig is Haaland's favourite victim: 13 goals in nine games

Erling Haaland scored the winner in the 78th minute for a 3-2 Manchester City win in Leipzig, from an Elliot Anderson cross. It is his 13th goal in just nine games against the German club. City led twice - through an own goal by Castello Lukeba and an Enzo Fernández header - and Leipzig came back each time, through Ridle Baku and Antonio Nusa. Enzo Maresca's side had no ideas for a long time, but in the end took the three points and climbed back into the top eight. When the opponent knows exactly who is going to decide the match and still can't stop him, it is no longer a coincidence.

United came back from 0-2 and ended a nine-game winless run

At Old Trafford, Roma led 2-0 after 17 minutes, through Matías Soulé and a Donyell Malen penalty. In the second half Matheus Cunha won a penalty, and Bruno Fernandes converted it at the second attempt. Cunha then equalised after a mistake by Leonardo Balerdi, and four minutes from time scored the winner for 3-2. The assist for that goal came from 19-year-old Shea Lacey, who came on 15 minutes from the end. The background is more interesting than the score: Bruno publicly criticised Michael Carrick's tactics after the 1-4 defeat at Como, was left out against Bournemouth, and now claims reports of a "clear-the-air" talk with the coach are untrue. Next up is Aston Villa on Sunday. One win buys time. Peace in the dressing room is another matter.

Tikvesh won on the pitch, but were knocked out of the Cup at the green table

On the pitch Tikvesh beat Vardar 3-1 in Skopje, in the round of 16 of the Macedonian Cup. In the offices of the Football Federation of Macedonia that result did not survive. The competitions committee upheld Vardar's complaint about the improper appearance of Okere Ebube Wisdom, whose medical document in the COMET system was not in order. The match has been registered as an official 3-0 win for Vardar, who go through to the quarter-finals, and Tikvesh have also been fined 1,000 euros. The federation did not mince words: responsibility lies "exclusively" with the people the club appointed as administrators, whose "incompetence and omissions" led to this outcome. Tikvesh accepted the decision and announced changes in its administration. One document erased ninety minutes of football. How many clubs in the league really know what's in their files?

Sedloski left Miovski at home: you get into the national team with playing time

Goce Sedloski announced a 26-man squad for the last two Nations League B matches: on 13 November Macedonia visit Scotland, and three days later they host Slovenia. One absence made the most noise. Bojan Miovski has gone a long time without minutes at Glasgow Rangers, so Marko Gjorgjievski of Shkëndija has been called up in his place, while Darko Churlinov, Boban Nikolov, Imran Fetai, Stefan Despotovski and Nikola Serafimov return. The coach said Miovski hasn't been written off and will come back when he plays, but also that he will no longer tolerate players who come to the national team "for a stroll", just to see their families. Macedonia haven't won since September last year, when they beat Liechtenstein - a full 14 months. The strong words have been said. Will the win follow on the pitch?
