All three crossings into Greece are full

This week there is no longer a „safer" or „faster" crossing into Greece - the crush has spilled everywhere. Bogorodica is full, Medzitlija is filling up, and even Dojran, for years the quieter alternative, now sits in long columns of cars and trucks. If you counted on one detour to save you from the queue, that no longer holds this season.

Why you wait and when the traffic is lightest

The border crossings are working at full capacity - every lane open, maximum flow. That is good news and bad news at once: it cannot get better than this, so the peak-hour queue simply stays. At the worst times the wait at the crossing reaches up to three hours.

The best windows do still exist: heading into Greece, try to cross before 6am or after 1pm, and on the way home before noon or after 7pm. But be realistic - even in those windows you often wait these days, just less. So the only safe move is to check the queue live right before you leave, rather than trusting a schedule.

Check the border before you set off

Instead of guessing, watch. Our live border page has live cameras from Bogorodica, Medzitlija and Dojran, along with the wait time in both directions - into Greece and back home. Before every departure, one look at the feed tells you more than any published schedule.
