Aries

Today Aries will stand in line at the post office behind someone paying six bills separately, in small change. They'll take out their phone, then put it back in their pocket. They won't sigh out loud even once. When their turn comes, the clerk will smile at them - probably the first time she's smiled at anyone today.

Taurus

Today in the meeting Taurus will volunteer for the new project before hearing what it actually involves. They'll raise their hand and listen to the rest of the presentation with the feeling that they should have waited. The good news: nobody else will volunteer, so they'll be free to run it their own way.

Gemini

Today Gemini should take the winter coat out of the wardrobe before they need it, not on the morning it turns cold. In the pocket they'll find a café receipt from last winter and one glove without its pair. The coat will smell of mothballs for another three days - that's the price of being prepared.

Cancer

Today Cancer will hear a friend's voice on the phone and know from the very first "hello" that something is wrong. They won't ask directly. They'll suggest meeting up briefly, "just for a coffee". The coffee will last two hours, and the real story will only come out at the end, when they're already standing outside the café with their jackets in their hands.

Leo

Today Leo will switch off their camera in an online meeting and nobody will notice. That will hurt more than they'll admit.

Virgo

Today Virgo will let their partner load the dishwasher alone. The plates will be crooked, the glasses on the wrong side, and one pan will block everything. They'll leave the kitchen before saying anything. The dishes will get washed - not perfectly, but well enough.

Libra

Today Libra will reply to an email with "yes" in the very first sentence, without three paragraphs of preamble. It will feel rude to them, so they'll add "regards". The reply will arrive in five minutes - just as short, and without any annoyance.

Scorpio

Today Scorpio will apologise to colleagues for their tone last week - in front of everyone, in the morning, before the first coffee. They won't add a "but". The office will go quiet for five seconds, and then someone will ask whose turn it is to make the coffee.

Sagittarius

Today Sagittarius will check the electricity bill before paying it and compare it with last October's. They'll write the difference on a slip of paper and stick it on the fridge. By spring the slip will have yellowed, and Sagittarius will be switching off lights behind everyone in the house.

Capricorn

Today Capricorn will walk past their old primary school right during the long break. The yard will be full of children shouting the way their generation once did. They'll stand by the fence a minute longer than is polite. How many of these kids will stand where they're standing, thirty years from now?

Aquarius

Today Aquarius will clean the radiators before the central heating comes on, with a brush and an old rag, fin by fin. Nobody told them to. On the first evening the flat warms up, it won't smell of burnt dust - and only they will know why.

Pisces

Today Pisces shouldn't reply straight away to the message "do you have time for a favour?". First they should find out what the favour is. The last time, "one favour" lasted a whole weekend and involved moving a three-bedroom flat.
