James Van Der Beek's Wife After Three Months: „The Relief Passes, Reality Arrives"

Three months after the death of James Van Der Beek, his wife Kimberly shared a message that left everyone who read it speechless. „Yesterday marked three months since we lost @vanderjames. To say I'm inconsolable is too little. Words can't describe the pain."

The actor from the cult series „Dawson's Creek" died on February 11 after a two-year fight with colorectal cancer, at 48. He left behind Kimberly and six children: Olivia, Joshua, Annabel, Gwendolyn, Emilia and Jeremiah. Last month, on what would have been his 49th birthday, daughter Emilia shared a video message: „Hi, dad. I love you and I miss you, and I'll never stop loving you."

Kimberly writes about what everyone who has lost a close person knows - that initial phase of „shock-relief", as the psychologists call it, when the brain still refuses to accept the loss. „The relief is passing," she writes, „and now reality is coming. The family terribly misses him."

In the same post she describes something less media-ready and more personal - how her connection with faith has deepened. „My conscious relationship with God is getting stronger." To many that sounds like a cliché from an American TV show. For a family of six children that suddenly lost its foundation, it's simply a way to survive.

She said she'd share more - about James's wishes, his relationship with people, what their 14 years together really meant. It's also something familiar: those who grieve often feel the need to „preserve" the one who left in words, with the hope that if his story stays alive, he in some way stays too. How many in Hollywood know that need - and how many ordinary families in the Balkans share it?
