Glasgow and London meet in Sofia on October 23. Mungo's Hi Fi and DJ Vadim return to Malkata Tekila, a club that has since moved to a new address on Angel Kanchev Street. Doors open at 20:00 and the music starts at 21:00.
Mungo's Hi Fi is a reggae sound system and production crew from Glasgow, formed at the turn of the millennium under the influence of King Tubby, Prince Jammy and Britain's Unity Sounds. Their first records came out on London label Dubhead, then on Ninja Tune, and in 2005 they founded their own label, Scotch Bonnet Records. Their first album, "Sound System Champions", came out in 2008, and their releases have featured names from Jamaican veterans Ranking Joe and Sugar Minott to Mavado and Major Lazer.
DJ Vadim was born in 1970 in Leningrad and has lived in London since the age of three. In 1994 he founded the Jazz Fudge label, then signed to Ninja Tune, where in 1999 he released the album "USSR: Life from the Other Side", with guests such as Scratch Perverts and Iriscience of Dilated Peoples. His sets mix hip-hop, funk, soul and jungle, which together with Mungo's bass makes for a night where reggae, dub and breakbeat don't ask each other's permission. Support comes from locals Masta P6U and KXCKS.
Tickets are sold only on bilet.bg, at 10 and 15 euros, or about 615 and 925 denars, and club cards for free entry aren't valid for this night. Numbers are limited.
