Some bands outlive their founders, and Nova Generatsia (New Generation) is one of the best-known examples in Bulgaria. On 11 November the group plays the new space of the Malkata Tekila club at 1 Angel Kanchev Street in Sofia.
The band was founded by poet, composer and bassist Dimitar Voev in 1987. Voev died in 1992, aged just 27, and over time the group gained cult status. Since 2006 the lead vocalist has been his younger brother Simeon Voev. That same year, on 21 June, Nova Generatsia opened for Depeche Mode in Sofia in front of around 40,000 people. Their releases include "Vhod B" from 1987 and "Zavinagi" from 1991, and the songs mentioned most often include "Skorpionite tantsuvat sami" and "Samo dvama".
The organisers promise live new wave and post-punk, with visual production to match the mood, plus a DJ set in the club. How many bands from the late eighties in the region are still filling clubs with the same songs today?
Doors open at 7 pm and the concert starts at 8 pm. The cheaper 10-euro tickets have sold out, and the current price on bilet.bg is 15 euros, about 920 denars.
