THE ABSURDITY OF MACEDONIAN POLITICS
Here, this wouldn't be possible even in a satirical comedy! MPs file an interpellation, they ask questions about contracts, money, public resources and accountability, and the minister replies: "I work at full capacity, and in two years I built an institution from scratch!" The interpellation isn't about whether you worked at full capacity, whether you worked overtime, or whether you built the institution from the ground up. They're asking specifically about: contracts, public resources, transparency and so on. In the end it turns out the interpellation wasn't for the minister to answer to Parliament, but for Parliament to give her a chance to deliver an annual report on her own successes. In a normal country, the minister answers the questions. Here, the questions are just an excuse for the minister to give a speech about herself. Welcome to Macedonia - the country where you ask for accountability and get an autobiography!
