Five days of street food in Avionče park with only local names on stage: 15 venues that operate in Skopje all year round

From 4 to 8 September, Avionče park in the Aerodrom municipality hosts the second edition of the AERO Street Food Festival. Five days, over 15 local hospitality brands and a music programme that is entirely domestic.

That second detail is why this announcement deserves more than a copy-paste of the line-up.

A list worth reading in full

The food zone features Mustacos, Loras Sushi, Fat Kitchen, Jojo's BBQ, Oljo's, Noa Gyradiko, Scoop, Bistro 64, Smash Burger, Sorelle, 11: Eleven, Sutlijaš bar, Transylvanian trdlo, Pizza Vice City, Destan, Milkey and others. Burgers, tacos, gyros, sushi, desserts.

Look at that list again. These are not chains imported for a festival - these are venues that operate in Skopje all year round. The festival is not importing an offer, it is gathering the existing one in one place. The difference matters, because the money stays with people who pay rent in the same city.

The music is local, and that is a decision

On stage: South Park, Ringtones, Dopamine, Marbel, Acoustic Division with a tribute to Vlado Janevski, Milan Serafimov, Aleksandar Jordanov, „Janko Petel Javaše”. The DJs are Marko, Vaso, Rizinski, Fluere, Guardian, Fičo. On the final night, 8 September, the Sure Shotz collective plays a tribute to DNK.

Not one foreign name in the programme. For a municipal event that is a sensible decision - the budget that would go on one imported headliner is spread here across dozens of local performers. The Macedonian music scene rarely gets a paid stage with an audience that did not come specifically for it.

What will show whether this is a festival or an episode

A second edition is the point at which an event either becomes a tradition or slowly turns into a line item in the municipal calendar. The organisers are the Aerodrom municipality and the City of Skopje, so this is public money.

Which is why the only check worth making is the one you will not see in any statement: what it cost, how many people came, and how many of the venues will return next year without being begged. If all 15 come back in 2027, the festival works. If the municipality has to find new ones, then in 2026 only the stage was working.
