Eight Injured, Four of Them Children: A Serious Crash Near Radisani - How Many Tragedies Before Any Action?

Another serious crash on a Macedonian local road, and once again there are children among the injured. On 12 June at 15:30, on the road between the villages of Ljuboten and Radisani near Skopje, a Mercedes and a Volkswagen Golf collided. The result: eight injured, among them four minors.

According to the Interior Ministry, three people sustained serious injuries. The Mercedes was driven by a 35-year-old woman. The details of who caused the crash are still for the investigation to establish, but the number left hanging speaks louder than any preliminary version - four children ended up in hospital on a journey that was supposed to be routine.

Local roads here turned long ago into places where the statistics simply repeat themselves. Narrow lanes, poor signage, driving that knows no limit - and one story like this every week. The question the institutions rarely hear out loud is a simple one: how many crashes of the same kind have to happen before something more serious than a press release follows each tragedy? For now, the only thing that reliably arrives on time is the police statement - not the measures that would prevent the statements from being written.
