Part of Skopje woke up without power today - but this time it was announced. Due to planned technical work on the power distribution network, on 29 June 2026, parts of the Kisela Voda and Karpoš municipalities were left without electricity in the late-morning hours.

The affected streets were „Gernika", „Ivan Hadžinikolov", „Vangel Dinu" and part of „Franc Prešern". Planned outages are part of network maintenance and, when announced in time, are an entirely normal occurrence - the problem only arises when residents find out only after the power is already gone.

Technical work like this is needed precisely to avoid bigger, unannounced failures - especially in summer, when the grid is under the heaviest strain from air conditioners and consumption. In other words, a few hours without power today is the price for fewer surprises on the hottest days.
