A major police operation woke up Skopje this morning - at several locations, with Singelić as one of the hotspots, police detained 12 people suspected of trafficking in drugs and weapons. And the detail that gives the story its particular weight: among the detained is also a police officer.

According to sources close to the investigation, the operation began early in the morning and unfolded simultaneously at several places across the city. Drugs were found at multiple locations. The Ministry of the Interior confirmed that the operation is ongoing and announced that more details would be published once it concludes.

When a police officer ends up on the wrong side of the handcuffs in a drugs-and-weapons operation, the story stops being routine. If someone who wore the uniform was part of the chain, then the question is not just who was moving the drugs and weapons, but how long it went on right under the nose of the very institution meant to stop it.
