Mile Kitić plays Zagreb's Mint club on October 16, with doors at 22:00. After his big concert at Arena Zagreb, one of the best-known folk singers of the former Yugoslavia returns to the Croatian capital in a much smaller space - a club with tables, reservations and an 18+ door policy.

Kitić has been on stage for about half a century. He released his first singles in the mid-seventies, and in the eighties he sang with the group Južni Vetar, recording the hits that made his name. He says himself that he has 350 recorded songs. The irony is that he turned down some of the biggest ones: "Kraljica trotoara" ("Queen of the Pavement") sat with Stevica Simeunović for eight years with nobody willing to record it, and when Kitić heard it he said it wasn't for him but for Balašević. He only recorded it when his wife Marta made the call.

In recent interviews Kitić has talked about being on his way out of the business, so every show like this also reads as a chance to see him while he's still singing. Mint is billing the night as a greatest-hits session until morning, with no details on the band or the setlist.

Regular tickets cost 10 euros (about 620 denars) and VIP 15 euros (about 920 denars) on entrio.hr. A ticket doesn't include a table - tables are booked separately through the club, and VIP tickets require an advance reservation.
