The Skopje Tribute series brings Brazilian band Red Hot Experience, who play the songs of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, to the Stanica 26 club on November 7. Doors open at 20:00 and the gig starts at 21:00.
The original needs little introduction. The Red Hot Chili Peppers formed in Los Angeles in 1983, and with their mix of funk, punk and rock - plus Flea's bass that never sits still - became one of the best-selling rock bands in the world. "Blood Sugar Sex Magik" from 1991 and "Californication" from 1999 are among the defining rock records of the nineties, and in 2012 the band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Red Hot Experience arrive with a reputation as one of the most acclaimed Chili Peppers tributes in Latin America. On October 30, eight days before Skopje, they play Barcelona's Jamboree club, where tickets are already sold out. The setlist includes "Californication", "Can't Stop", "By the Way" and "Give It Away" - songs that demand non-stop bass lines and a singer who can't stand still.
Tickets cost 700 denars and are on sale at kupikarta.com. This is the first of three autumn nights from Skopje Tribute at Stanica 26: Elvis Presley follows on November 20 and Arctic Monkeys on December 12. Are tribute nights the only way Skopje gets to hear these songs live? For now - yes.
