Skopje's Tap Water Safe to Drink: Samples From 43 Monitoring Points Check Out

Good news for the capital, at a time when good news about water is rare. Tests have shown that Skopje's water is safe to drink - samples taken from 43 monitoring points comply with the Rulebook on the safety and quality of drinking water, the public utility „Vodovod i kanalizacija" announced.

The microbiological analysis is part of a regular weekly report, which means this is a routine check, not a reaction to some incident. That is worth stressing - because in an era when every water story sparks panic, the regular confirmation that all is well is exactly what builds trust.

Still, it pays to stay alert. Safe water today does not mean safe water forever - quality depends on the constant upkeep of a network that is old across much of the city. The report confirms the system works now, but it does not release anyone from the duty to keep investing so it works in the future too.

For residents, the message is simple and reassuring - the tap in Skopje remains the safer and cheaper choice over the bottle. And in a country where we increasingly hear about restrictions and water troubles, a routine confirmation that the water we drink is clean is no small thing - it is exactly what public services should always guarantee, without asking for applause in return.
