Student dorm rankings are out: some of those accepted are sent wherever there is room, regardless of what they asked for

The ranking lists for student dormitories are out. For several thousand first-years and older students, this is the difference between rent in Skopje and a bed in a dorm - a difference that, in this economy, decides whether studying is possible at all.

The Ministry of Education and Science has published the results of the competition for admitting undergraduate students for the 2026/2027 academic year. The lists are available on the official portal, separately for each building, and the appeal window runs from 15 to 25 September. Appeals are submitted to the dormitory the list refers to.

Where the accepted students have been moved

Because of limited capacity at the "Goce Delčev" dormitory in Skopje, some of the candidates have been redirected to the "Stiv Naumov" buildings - and that applies whether or not the student listed any alternative accommodation at all. The same goes for those accepted at "Braća Miladinovci" in Štip, who have been placed in the private dormitories "Logos" and "Hiljadnikov", according to the alternatives they submitted.

Results have been published for 13 buildings across Macedonia, among them "Goce Delčev" and "Stiv Naumov" in Skopje, "Braća Miladinovci" in Štip, "Kočo Racin" in Bitola, "Nikola Karev" in Ohrid, and the dormitory in Tetovo.

The sentence about redirection is the one worth reading twice. If capacity at one dormitory falls short, the student goes wherever there is room - regardless of what they asked for. That is not an administrative detail; for someone it means an extra half hour on the bus every morning, for four years.

The lists are published, the deadlines are running. Everything else - how many places were missing this year and why - remains a question that a portal full of ranking lists does not answer.
