"Vlajko" Hit by Vandals Again: The Pedestrian Overpass in Vlae Is Closed Until the Damage Is Fixed

The "Vlajko" pedestrian overpass in Skopje's Vlae neighbourhood is closed. Not for renovation, but because someone smashed it up again. The Municipality of Karpoš said this was "yet another act of vandalism", leaving material damage and a risk that people could get hurt.

The overpass will stay closed until the damage is repaired, and the public will be informed separately when it reopens, the municipality said. How big the damage is and how much the repair will cost has not been announced so far.

The words "yet another" are the key part of the statement. They mean this isn't the first time. Someone is deliberately wrecking a public structure that serves anyone who wants to cross the road safely, and the repair is then paid for from the municipal budget - in other words, with every resident's money.

If the overpass has been a target before, is there a camera over it? And has anyone ever been held responsible - or will the municipality just pay for the repair and wait for the next "yet another"?
