Bedzeti Earns Another Criminal Charge: 42.8 Million Denars Through Traffic Decisions?

Former mayor of Saraj, Blerim Bedzeti, has received a new criminal complaint from the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The suspicion: abuse of official position and authority. Specifically, the charge claims Bedzeti enabled a Saraj company to receive unlawful financial benefit of 42.8 million denars through issuing traffic regulation decisions.

42.8 million denars - approximately 700,000 euros. For traffic regulation decisions. Not for highways, not for hospitals, but for regulating traffic. The detail is so absurd it sounds fabricated, yet that is the essence of the charges.

This is not Bedzeti first encounter with the justice system. The former mayor already has a history of criminal proceedings. His asset declaration reveals how much officials report versus what they actually own - but that is a story for another day. For now, the question is whether a new criminal charge will mean a new trial, or just another file that ends up in the archive.
