Australian funk eccentric Donny Benét comes to Zagreb on September 11 for a show at the Peti Kupe club. The musician known as „The Don" returns to the Croatian capital as part of his European tour, with his recognisable blend of funk, synth-pop and humour.
Donny Benét is the stage persona of an Australian musician and bassist whose style deliberately leans on eighties aesthetics - white suits, a moustache and a romantic synth sound inspired by italo-disco and sophisticated funk. Behind the parody image stands a serious musician and bass virtuoso, whose songs like „Konichiwa" and „Working Out" have drawn a cult following around the world. His shows are known for their energy and for the direct, almost comic rapport with the crowd.
The Peti Kupe concert is set up as the kind of intimate club night his music calls for - a close atmosphere where the audience dances and laughs at the same time. The club is one of Zagreb's smaller but livelier concert spots, ideal for this type of show where contact with the performer is part of the experience.
The show starts at 8 p.m., with tickets on sale through entrio.hr for up to around 24 euros. For funk and retro-sound lovers after something different from the standard concerts, an evening with Donny Benét in Zagreb is one of the most fun September picks.
