While grown-up politicians argue about the war in Ukraine from a safe distance, in Kavadarci someone did something concrete - opened the door to children fleeing that war. A group of kids aged 10 to 16 arrived for a ten-day holiday at the children's resort in Mihajlovo.

The stay was organised by the Municipality of Kavadarci, led by Mayor Mitko Jančev, and the company „Kožuvčanka“, which covered the full financial and logistical support for the humanitarian trip. Several local institutions, sports clubs and associations from the municipality joined in to pull it off.

The programme includes sports and recreation, cultural events and educational content, day trips, walks and time spent with peers. The point is simple: let the kids rest from the everyday grind of war, make new friends, and take home some good memories from Macedonia.

This is not the first time Kavadarci has opened its doors to Ukrainian children - hence the „again“ in the headline. At a time when solidarity is so often reduced to statements and social-media posts, one small Macedonian town and one local company show that help can also be something dead simple: ten days of peace for a child who has none of it back home.
