LeBron Hits the Market: Every Title Contender Has Already Called Rich Paul

LeBron James isn't officially a free agent yet, and his agent's phone is already ringing. According to Shams Charania on ESPN, who appeared on The Pat McAfee Show, "basically every contender in the NBA" has already called Rich Paul since the Lakers' season ended.

"I spoke with Rich Paul at the Chicago Draft Combine last week, and he told me that literally every club in title contention has already called. That line is going to stay open," Charania said. "LeBron, more than in any other year, needs time with his family and with his inner circle."

The numbers put it all in context. The 41-year-old superstar has an existing 52.6 million dollar contract that expires this summer, which means he becomes an unrestricted free agent. And that is exactly what makes his next signing the biggest story of the off-season - possibly bigger than the trade circus around Giannis Antetokounmpo.

According to Charania, one thing is certain: LeBron stays in the NBA for at least one more season. "Every indication throughout the entire season was that LeBron would play one more year. We have a 41-year-old we've never seen quite like this - if he chose to walk away, nobody would blame him. But the expectation is that we'll get one more season."

The Lakers question isn't only whether they keep LeBron. They have to pay Austin Reaves with a potential max contract at the same time and build a team worthy of Luka Dončić, who already carries the load for the next 10 years. The transition from era to era doesn't happen with a single signature - it's a full restructuring.

By the end of the off-season, Rich Paul will be holding the most-wanted phone in the NBA. And the question everyone in LA is asking isn't "is LeBron staying," but "at what cost."
