Some brides dream their whole lives of a princess gown. Mel C, the former Spice Girl, decided to honour that tradition too - but only for half a day. For the second part of the wedding she swapped the silk gown for a silk tracksuit and trainers, and with that sent a message clearer than any speech: you can get married and still stay the same person you always were.
Mel C, 52, married the Australian model Chris Dingwall on 18 July 2026, at The Country House Cumbria - a Georgian residence in the northwest of England. At the wedding were family, friends and the other members of the Spice Girls, except Victoria Beckham, who was in the US due to commitments around the 2026 World Cup. But Victoria was present in another way - she designed the wedding gown.
The first look was minimalist and elegant: a satin gown with thin straps, a V-shaped neckline, a straight line and embroidered floral appliqués. Mel combined it with shoes also by Victoria Beckham and a classic bouquet of white flowers. Her hair was in soft waves, her make-up natural and bronzed, and the manicure - a vivid red, the only bold note in an otherwise calm combination.
The second look is what makes the story worth telling at all. After the celebration, Mel changed into a grey silk tracksuit made to her measurements - high waist, wide legs and side lines - combined with a short lapel waistcoat and a crop top. She finished the look with personalised Adidas Superstar trainers, a model born in 1965 and inspired by basketball courts.
That was no random choice. The tracksuit and trainers are a direct nod to her identity as „Sporty Spice” of the nineties - the comfort and sporty style that defined her for a full thirty years. At a time when weddings are often a contest over who spends more and who looks closer to a fairy tale, Mel C did something different: she wore both the tradition and herself, without giving up either one. And that, on its own, is a style that money can't buy.
