Led Zeppelin, Metallica and Tool wrote their songs for amplifiers, not for the piano. On 4 November at 8 pm at Public Room, Niko Gjorgievski and pianist Simon Oblesevski will play them on exactly that - piano and voice - in an evening they've called "Odraz" (Reflection).
The organisers present Gjorgievski as a tenor and the singer of Mizar, the cult Skopje band from the eighties that went through several singers over the years, with guitarist Gorazd Chapovski its only constant. He picked the repertoire from the bands that shaped him most as a musician: Led Zeppelin, the Rolling Stones, David Bowie, Deep Purple, Metallica, Nirvana, Radiohead, Alice in Chains, Pink Floyd, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Audioslave, Queen, Tool, Opet and Depeche Mode.
The concert isn't the only thing on that night. The hall will display works by Natasha Bozharova, a sculptor and painter with more than 20 public works in Macedonia and Italy. Skopje knows her for "The Beggar" on Makedonija Street, the sculpture that pedestrians pass every day in the centre - though few know who made it.
Tickets cost 400 denars and are sold via tix.mk, and Public Room takes card payments only. The evening is organised by the "Vrutok" Centre for Art and Free Expression, and the ticket money goes to an independent cultural cooperation project between Macedonia and Italy.
