A helicopter of one of the most powerful energy companies in the world crashed in Saudi Arabia, carrying with it at least 14 lives. The accident happened on Sunday, 28 June, near Ras Tanura in the eastern part of the country - the site of the largest refinery in the Middle East.

The helicopter belonged to Saudi Aramco, the state oil company that has for years been regarded as the largest and most profitable on the planet. Details about the identity of the victims and their roles have not been published so far, nor is it clear whether all were company employees or whether there were other passengers.

The cause of the crash is still unknown, and an investigation was opened immediately. The company stated that the refinery's operation is not affected - a phrasing that says a lot about priorities.
