"Tanec" has existed since 1949. On 24 December at 7:30 pm, the national folk dance and song ensemble holds its annual concert at the National Opera and Ballet in Skopje.

It was founded by the then government of the People's Republic of Macedonia to collect, preserve and present Macedonian folklore: songs, dances, folk instruments and costumes. Since then it has performed all over Europe, in the Americas, Australia, Japan and Africa, and is regarded as the ambassador of Macedonian folk tradition around the world. Generations of dancers and singers have passed through it, including Elena Andonovska, who has her own concert at the National Theatre ten days earlier.

The annual concert is titled "The Pulse of Our Ancestors in the Rhythm of Today". The ensemble promises a blend of tradition and contemporary stage performance: top-class dancing, powerful vocals and lavish costumes, in a programme that brings the roots back onto the Opera stage.

Tickets cost 800 denars and are sold via kupikarta.com.
