VMRO-DPMNE to SDSM: Why Are You Celebrating Our Sister Party's Victory in Hungary?

VMRO-DPMNE asked SDSM: why is Filipce celebrating Tisa's victory in Hungary when Tisa is VMRO-DPMNE's sister party, not SDSM's? The question is direct, the answer - uncomfortable for both sides.

Party spokesperson Petrushevski was sharp: "SDS is so desperate they're celebrating the victory of VMRO-DPMNE's sister party in another country while their own is falling apart." The claim is that SDSM seeks comfort in other people's electoral wins because it has none of its own.

The fact is that Peter Magyar's Tisa is a member of the EPP - the European family VMRO-DPMNE belongs to, not PES which SDSM belongs to. So SDSM is technically celebrating the victory of an ideological opponent. Political schizophrenia, or an attempt to show that "autocrats fall" regardless of party affiliation?

While both parties argue over whose victory who is celebrating, citizens watch a political elite spending energy on Twitter fights about Hungarian elections instead of solving domestic problems. A familiar Balkan pattern - other people's elections are always more interesting than your own responsibilities.
