Demi Moore at 63 with a bob that wasn't actually cut - the Greek stylist at Cannes explains why horizontal lines read as young

At the La Bola Negra premiere in Cannes, Demi Moore appeared with a short bob - and the comments started immediately. Had she cut off 30 years of long hair? Was one of Hollywood's most recognisable looks gone? The answer: no. She didn't cut. It's a faux bob - a fake bob - pulled off with a targeted trick by a skilled stylist.

The hairdresser who did Moore for Cannes is Dimitris Giannetos, a Greek stylist with red-carpet experience for Hollywood A-listers. He folded and pinned the lower half of her hair forward toward the jawline, creating the illusion of bob length. In the photos you see a straight bob - in reality, the rest of the hair is hidden underneath, fixed with pins and slides.

Stylist Manuel Zabaleta explains why it works visually: „Horizontal lines at jaw level create definition, which our eyes associate with youth and energy." That's why bobs from the 1920s keep coming back - the 60s, the 80s, and now the 2020s. The line does something for the face that long hair simply can't.

The hairstyle itself is inspired by Marilyn Monroe. Giannetos and his team called it the „De-Marilyn Bob" - waves with extra volume at the crown, designed to lift the face. For a woman of 63, a bold but well-chosen move - not in a „trying to look younger" way, but in a „I have history with this shape" way.

The lesson for the rest of us: before you make a fast decision about cutting, try a faux bob first. Simple procedure - YouTube has dozens of tutorials - and it works perfectly for a special evening. If it doesn't suit you, tomorrow you've still got your hair. If you love it, then you can go to the hairdresser knowing what you want. The art of delay isn't just for personal decisions.
