Elsa Pataky has turned 50, and instead of a collage of old photos, she chose to send the message the fitness industry rarely says out loud: muscle is the best anti-ageing agent. Not cream, not serum, not a gadget - muscle.
Pataky has trained since she was eighteen, and she does not hide that her approach is brutal: if you do not leave the gym exhausted, you have done nothing. Her foundation is weight training three times a week - functional exercises combined with heavy loads, with the emphasis on the legs. That is the opposite of the myth that women who lift weights will „bulk up“; the truth is that muscle mass is exactly what is lost fastest with age, and with it go metabolism and stability.
Alongside the weights, she uses the so-called Norwegian method - interval training with four-minute bursts of effort at 85 to 95 percent intensity, followed by three minutes of rest. Nerea Povedano, a coach from the Entrena Virtual platform, explains that this method increases cardiovascular capacity and metabolic efficiency. Instead of yoga, Pataky picks pilates - she says it protects the joints better as the years pass.
At the table, the story is just as disciplined: a Mediterranean diet with no processed food, no caffeine, alcohol or refined sugar, dinner before 6:30 p.m. and more than twelve hours' gap until the next meal. Her breakfast is high in protein - eggs, carbohydrates, vegetables.
Here is the part where scepticism is healthy: last year Pataky launched her own line of dietary supplements, „Forever by Elsa Pataky“, after two years of development. So, a celebrity who lectures you on longevity while selling you little bottles at the same time - a familiar formula. That is why the lesson is not in her supplements, but in what she does for free: lifts weights, sleeps enough, eats real food and takes no shortcuts.
At fifty, it is no secret - it is work. And perhaps the most honest thing in the whole story is that nobody promises you it will be easy.
