Pedestrian (21) seriously injured in Gostivar after being hit by a car driven by a 69-year-old

A 21-year-old pedestrian from Gostivar suffered serious bodily injuries after being hit by a car on Braća Ǵinoski boulevard. The crash was reported on 18 October at 20:10.

According to the Interior Ministry, the Chevrolet Spark passenger car with Gostivar plates was driven by 69-year-old N.H. from the village of Negotino near Gostivar. The injured man, A.Z., was taken to the Emergency Centre in Gostivar, where doctors confirmed serious injuries. A team from the Gostivar police department carried out the on-site investigation.

What exactly happened - whether the pedestrian was on a crossing, how fast the car was going, what visibility was like at eight in the evening - has not yet been released. Those answers should come from the investigation, not from speculation.

Meanwhile in Štip, a car hit an eight-year-old child on the pedestrian crossing in front of the Goce Delčev primary school, and the driver fled the scene. Pedestrians are the most vulnerable people on the road, and safety on a crossing should not come down to luck.
