Bulgarian tribute band Hammerhead plays an evening in Varna on 4 November dedicated to Metallica and bassist Cliff Burton, forty years after his death. The concert "Tribute to Metallica - 40 Years Cliff" takes place at The Brick Port bar, in the Odesos port complex. Doors open at 7 p.m., and the start is at 8.

Cliff Burton died in September 1986, when Metallica's tour bus overturned on a road in Sweden. He was only 24, and he left behind the bass lines of the band's first three albums, "Kill 'Em All", "Ride the Lightning" and "Master of Puppets". It's precisely that period, before the Black Album and the stadiums, that many fans still say is Metallica's best.

Hammerhead have prepared a special programme dedicated to the musical legacy of Metallica and Burton, with the focus on the band's classic period. The organisers promise heavy guitars and uncompromising sound, music that four decades on still brings together several generations of rock fans.

A ticket costs 27 euros, about 1,663 denars, at bilet.bg and eventim.bg. Metallica in Varna isn't on the programme, but "Master of Puppets" at the port is the closest substitute this autumn.
