Ratko Mladić has suffered a stroke in detention at The Hague. Serbian Justice Minister Nenad Vujić called on the International Criminal Tribunal to allow the general's treatment in Serbia, citing deteriorating health.

Mladić, sentenced to life in prison for genocide in Srebrenica and war crimes during the Bosnian War, has been in detention at The Hague since 2011. This isn't the first request - Belgrade regularly asks for his transfer, and The Hague regularly refuses.

For Serbia, Mladić is a health issue. For Bosnia, he is a convicted war criminal whose place is in The Hague's prison. In the Balkans, even illness and justice are political.
