Natalia Pujol, daughter of Xavier Pujol and Marta de Castro Sagarna, owners of the auto parts company Ficosa, married Guillermo Creuheras last Saturday. He is the son of José Creuheras, chairman of the publishing group Planeta and the media group Atresmedia. The ceremony took place on the Costa Brava, at the spot where the two first met, in front of more than 600 guests.

Natalia entrusted her three looks for the big day to Zé García. For the ceremony she chose a slim-fitting white gown with a wide off-the-shoulder neckline, long sleeves and a very long tulle train embroidered with three-dimensional flowers. Classic, refined - and with one detail that changed everything.

The bride's mother, Marta de Castro Sagarna, died just ten months ago. To honor her quietly and tenderly, Natalia placed a single red poppy at the end of her train - her mother's favorite flower. That small detail followed her all the way to the altar.

Stylists call it the "unexpected red theory": a small red element set against everything else that gives the whole look a new dimension. The poppy broke the perfection of the white, pulled the eye to the end of the train and turned a classic gown into something deeply personal. Anyone who has stood at a wedding without one of their closest people knows that absence is as visible as presence. Here, the absence got a color.

No veil, long loose and softly waved hair and a bouquet of white orchids, Natalia walked down the aisle on her father's arm. Guillermo had entered a few minutes earlier with his mother. After the ceremony, the couple and some of the guests carried on celebrating at a family country house in Ermedàs, Palafrugell - the house of Natalia's mother.

The guest list was a cross-section of Spanish power. From business - Ana Botín, Antonio Brufau, Javier Godó, Marc Murtra, Marc Puig. From politics - Catalan president Salvador Illa and People's Party leader Alberto Núñez Feijóo with his wife Eva Cárdenas. From literature - María Dueñas, Eduardo Mendoza, Carmen Posadas. And almost the entire lineup of Atresmedia presenters. When was the last time our own government and opposition raised a glass at the same wedding - at least in front of the cameras?

But among all those names, the thing people talked about most was the smallest thing at the wedding. One poppy on tulle - and a mother who, at least symbolically, was there after all.
