Nigel Kennedy, the best-selling classical violinist of all time, performs at the Ancient Theatre in Plovdiv on June 17, 2027 with the Virtuoso programme. It starts at 8pm.

Kennedy has been counted among the leading violin virtuosos for more than twenty-five years, and among the most significant violinists Britain has produced. What sets him apart from the classical scene is not only the playing - he has always worked on the border between classical music, jazz and contemporary music, with a stance and a look that the conservative classical audience long did not know how to receive.

The recording that changed everything came out in 1989. His version of Vivaldi's "The Four Seasons" with the English Chamber Orchestra sold over two million copies, stayed at the top of the British classical chart for more than a year, and total sales passed three million. It is one of the best-selling classical recordings in history, and the work Kennedy is still recognised for four decades later.

The Virtuoso programme brings the classical repertoire together with jazz and contemporary influences - Bach, his own arrangement of "A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square", plus original compositions including a tribute to his mentors Yehudi Menuhin and Stephane Grappelli.
