Olympiacos Turn Final Four Into a Home Tournament: Up to 10,000 Fans From Piraeus

When the doors of the T-Centre open at the EuroLeague Final Four, red and white will dominate. According to reports from Spiros Kavalieratos on SPORT24, Olympiacos will have the biggest fan presence - between 8,000 and 10,000 fans from Piraeus are expected in the stands.

The number is serious. For comparison, the other three teams - Fenerbahçe, Real Madrid and Valencia Basket - are all expected to bring significantly smaller fan contingents. The Greeks will effectively turn the semi-final into a home atmosphere on neutral ground.

Alongside the organised fans of the four teams, organisers also expect around 1,000 to 1,500 neutral spectators. For Balkan EuroLeague fans - and especially for those who have followed the Greek derby decade after decade - this year's Final Four looks like a planned Olympiacos celebration before the first minutes are even played.

The open question is whether coach Georgios Bartzokas' team advantage can convert the fan stands into a real advantage on the court. EuroLeague has carried all four participants to this point on dramatic series, and people are already saying the coming days will decide not only the European champion - but also how much Olympiacos can again be a dominant force in European basketball over the coming years.
