Radev Wins Absolute Majority in Bulgaria: Eighth Election, First Clear Victor

Rumen Radev and his "Progressive Bulgaria" won a commanding majority in parliamentary elections - the eighth in five years. With 44.4% of the vote, Radev will likely form a government on his own, without coalition partners and without compromise.

The most surprising data point: 34% of voters aged 18 to 34 backed Radev. Generation Z, typically characterized by apathy and low turnout across the Balkans, this time threw its weight behind a former president. Bulgaria's political scene hasn't seen youth mobilization like this in memory.

Why does this matter for Macedonia? Bulgaria is a direct neighbor with direct influence - from the EU veto to historical disputes. Radev is known for a firm stance, and his new position of power means Sofia will have a strong leader with no need for coalition compromises.

Eight elections in five years. That's not democratic maturity - it's a systemic governance crisis. But Bulgarians keep showing up, keep demanding change. Is Radev the answer or just the next in line? That remains to be seen, but Balkan stability depends in part on how long this government lasts.
