Relationship announced in February, a child in August, and a wedding somewhere in between: the family that owns part of the fashion industry has learned to say nothing

Salma Hayek becomes a grandmother a few days before turning sixty. Not through her own child - through her stepson. And that detail is exactly what makes the story more interesting than the usual news of a birth in a wealthy family.

François Pinault Jr and his wife Lara Cosima Henckel von Donnersmarck had a son at the beginning of August. She announced it herself, in ten photographs on Instagram, with a sentence closer to a private diary than to a press release: „My husband (coolest François in the world) and our son (sweetest François in the world)... Our first month as parents.” The post also implies the couple probably married quietly, without a single official word until then.

The baby is the third in a row to carry the same name. The father, François Pinault Jr, was born in 1998, and the grandfather is François-Henri Pinault, the man at the head of the luxury conglomerate Kering - the house behind Gucci, Yves Saint Laurent, Bottega Veneta, Alexander McQueen and Balenciaga. Three generations with one name, in a family that owns part of the global fashion industry.

François-Henri Pinault has been married to Salma Hayek since 2009. She has one biological daughter, Valentina Paloma, born in 2007, and four stepchildren from the marriage. She has said herself that she wanted more children but could only give birth to one - and that this is precisely why she regards her stepchildren as a piece of luck rather than an obligation.

Lara Cosima is the daughter of director Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck, who made „The Tourist” and won the Oscar for best foreign film for „The Lives of Others”. She studied at Parsons School of Design in New York and has her own haute couture studio. The relationship with Pinault was announced on Valentine's Day this year, the engagement about a month later.

There is something unusual in how fast all of this moves - a relationship announced in February, an engagement in March, a child in August, and a wedding somewhere in between without anyone noticing. In a world where every step these families take is usually photographed in advance, this story surfaced only after everything had already happened. That is not accidental. That is a decision.
