One of the freshest names on the European dream-pop scene is coming to Belgrade. Soyuz, a collective with roots in Minsk, plays on September 26 at the Karmakoma club - a night for anyone chasing a warm, dreamy sound somewhere between psychedelia, jazz and Brazilian music.

Behind the project are the multi-instrumentalists Alex Chumak and Nikita Arlou, born in Minsk, who after moving to Warsaw in 2022 were joined by the Polish musicians Albert Karch on drums and Igor Wiśniewski on guitar. The name itself means union - and it captures both the collaboration between the members and the band's dual identity, moving between several musical worlds.

Their breakthrough came with the album Force of the Wind, heavily inspired by Brazilian popular music, which Bandcamp named one of the best albums of 2022 and which got airplay on BBC Radio, FIP and Worldwide FM. Their sound started out as warm psychedelia with jazzy folk instrumentation, and later drifted toward the dreamy atmospheres of seventies Brazilian jazz-funk. This is music cut for an intimate space and an attentive crowd.

The show at Karmakoma starts at 8 p.m., and tickets are available through tickets.rs. For a night ruled by atmosphere rather than volume, Soyuz is one of the more interesting names the region is getting this autumn.
