Srđan Olman performs the stand-up show "Stručnjak" ("The Expert") on 27 November at 8 pm at Hotel Grand in Valjevo. It is his fourth solo show. The subject is familiar to anyone living in the Balkans: historic blunders, differences in mentality and the incompetence of a great many people in important positions.
Olman is from Subotica and has been doing stand-up since 2013, when he left journalism after about eight years. A journalist constantly runs into absurd situations, he explained in an interview with Radio Free Europe, and that makes good material. He now lives in Belgrade and has performed at the bigger Balkan comedy festivals, as well as in Hungary, Austria, Germany, Switzerland, the United Arab Emirates and Canada.
"Stručnjak" sarcastically asks when the word expert became an insult and why we would sooner surrender to superstition than to expertise and education. Questions that never expire in the Balkans.
The ticket costs 1,500 dinars, about 789 denars, on tickets.rs and at Tickets sales points. Valjevo is in western Serbia, and a day later, on 28 November, Olman also performs in Čačak.
