On Thursday, October 1, from 9 p.m., the Dancing Hall at MKC stages "Weaving", the contemporary dance piece by choreographers Adrijana Dančevska Rovčanin and Aleksandra Petruševska, produced by Tanc Bunker.

The starting point is unusual for a scene that usually runs away from folklore. The two authors take hair braiding and the men's dance "Teškoto", two rituals of Macedonian cultural heritage, and instead of presenting them as museum pieces, they cut them up, repeat them and slowly take them apart. The piece has two parts: the first is by Dančevska Rovčanin, the second by Petruševska, and on stage are Nina Petruševska, Tereza Lazarev and the two choreographers.

Dančevska Rovčanin teaches at the Department of Contemporary Dance at the "Goce Delčev" University and has two awards from the Festival of Choreographic Miniatures in Belgrade. She and Petruševska have worked together since at least 2016, when they performed "Simbol" at MOT. Both are part of the new generation of Macedonian choreographers presented at the first Macedonian Choreographic Platform.

The music doesn't come from a speaker. Aleksandar Grozdanovski plays synthesizers and Dario Cievski drums, live, while the set and costumes are by Ivana Mojsovska Golovski. How often do you hear "Teškoto" through deconstructed drums and cinematic synths?

Tickets are 350 denars, via karti.com.mk and mktickets.mk. The project is supported by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, and for those who have so far only seen contemporary dance at festivals, this is one night and one hall.
